Cherryacre Labradors

Welcome . . . from Terri and Gordon Micallef at CherryAcre Labradors. We are a small hobby kennel located in Southeast Michigan.

I have owned dogs my entire life, and we got our first purebred Labrador (out of field lines) eight years ago. Not long after acquiring Briar and doing much research, we came in contact with many wonderful breeders in the area. After Briar turned two we scheduled an appointment with the veterinarian for health clearances. It was then that we learned that Briar’s hips were good, but she had one elbow that would not pass. So at that time we decided to have her spayed.

Through much research and perseverance, I was able to purchase our chocolate foundation bitch GTM Liberty's Bit O' Justice. I have worked with Justice in obedience and she earned her CGC title at the young age of 6 months old. Justice is a wonderful tempered lab, which is ready to work at a moments notice or just lay by your feet and hang out. From Justice's second litter I kept a beautiful little female (Clair), who went on to receive her WC in August '08 at the young age of 7 months old! I did decide to part with Clair after it was decided she may not be quite the show girl we had hoped for, but she now resides with my brother and sister-in-law in Cincinnati and is doing wonderfully in obedience training. We have now added Ava into the mix from Justice's third litter out of Dauber, and she is a gorgeous deep dark chocolate girl! We have high hopes for her in field training as she earned her WC in the Summer of 2009, and will continue on towards her JH training this next Spring. Ava will begin her training for the show ring, as she is just getting started!

Back in the Winter of 2006 we added a beautiful yellow Labrador to our family from a wonderful breeder (Inselheim Labradors) and are currently enjoying field training with her. She received her WC in August '08 and just one week later earned her first two passes towards her Junior Hunt title, and at her very next test in torrential rain in mid-Sept. 2008, she earned her final two passes (going 4 for 4) to earn her JH title! She has been showing in the breed ring when possible, and we continue to train in the field. Kimba is CH pointed, and will continue to be shown as time permits. Kimba is an absolute joy to live with and never has a bad day! She has the most wonderful Labrador temperament that anyone could ever ask for! Kimba has had one litter so far and produced 11 beautiful puppies for us! We currently have Nala residing with us here, and co-own two others as well!

I am a Board Member of the Huron River Labrador Retriever Club, and an active Field Committee Member of this club too!
